I am an optimist at heart.
My wife sometimes chides me for this. My kids think it makes me playful. My wedding couples trust me because of it. The wedding industry here in Manitoba knows me as the happy wedding guy because of it. Then come my feelings about the “DJ industry.”
I recently attended, for a second time, Bill Hermann’s Entertainment Experience. Some have taken it three times, others four times. Nothing about Bill’s workshop is cheap.
Getting into the Entertainment Experience the first time, for the full three days, will set you back $2200 US dollars plus travel and accommodations.

“How much do you charge?”
…and so read the 5 most complained about words I see DJs talk about. It is a question that deserves an answer, obviously, but DJs are often overly critical of the question.
Often times, DJs will lament the fact that this is the only question potential clients ask them.
I am obsessed with The Tim Ferriss Show. I love it.
The show has nothing to do with the DJ industry directly, but what it has added to my DJ business is truly immeasurable. Today’s post is about one of those small things this podcast has done for me. This is about the greatest audio gift the internet has ever given me — one specific interview between Tim Ferriss and a great storyteller.
Consider people for the entire scope of their being, not simply a snapshot moment of time on this little rock we call earth.
Passing judgment over people, whether a potential client, a child, a friend of a friend, an industry colleague, a fellow event professional, the hot-in-the-press-politician (no, we’re not going there!), is all too often based on tiny little snippets of that person’s time here on earth. Rather then pausing to wait if some sort of activity begins to repeat itself, we respond with a sudden reaction to a comment or action by that person.
